Pictures  –  April 19 -22, 2021

We ask for you to please be at the studio NO LATER than 10 min. before your scheduled picture time. Have your costume on and put together, light make-up and hair done, correct shoes on, and correct color and brand of tights (Capizio). No underwear is to be worn under your costume for pictures or recital.

Please send your child in completely ready and have them wait in the lobby until they are called for pictures. If a parent must come in and help with a costume change, one parent may do so. You must wear a mask and return outside once your child is ready for the next picture. Picture envelope forms will be handed out in class. Please have your envelope(s) filled out and correct amount of money inside. (no change will be provided) Checks are to be made to McVicar Photography. If you will be paying by CC a form will be available at the studio the day of pictures. If you are in more than one number you must have an envelope for each costume. You may put the total amount for all pictures in one envelope. Please make a notation on the first envelope if you choose to do this.

We try our best to run on schedule but sometimes there are delays. You can help us stay on schedule by being ready and arriving on time. Please be patient and try not to schedule other activities for that evening. In order for the photographer to do the best job and to help keep things running smoothly, parents are asked to not be in the photo room. This keeps the eyes focused on the photographer and not Mom/Dad. No classes, the days of pictures April 19-22. There will be class on Friday and Saturday this week.

When you receive your costume, take it out of the bag and, if need be, sew or pin everything together. To remove any wrinkles, hanging it up in a hot shower with steam usually does the trick. Cut all strings that may be hanging. Please keep in mind the costumes are not a custom fit. We measure each student and add 1-2 inches and order from the size chart given. After the costumes are in, it is almost impossible to get another costume in time for the recital. So please be understanding if the costume does not fit perfectly.

If you have a hair piece, place it on your Child’s rights side of their head or around pony/bun, unless your instructor has specified other.  If your hair is too short to put up, do your best to look the same. All tights must be made by capizio. Tights can be purchased at Dance Supply Etc. in O’Fallon, SAS in St. Peters, Madison’s Dance wear in Chesterfield or most any other dance supply store or online. If you are in tumbling and in other dances that require you to wear capizio light suntan tights, it is best to get the transition. This allows you to wear the tight both footed and off the foot for tumbling or dances that require no shoes. If you are only in tumbling footed or stirrup is best. If you have long pants you are not required to wear tights, but no underwear or socks that can be seen, may be worn. Unless specified by your instructor.

Please be at the studio NO LATER than 10 min. before your scheduled picture time  Solos, Duets & Trios may get their pictures taken in between picture times. Have your pose ready!

Pictures will be handed out the last week of the 2020/21 studio year, May 15-20.

Parent Observation Days: We want to thank everyone for their cooperation and understanding of limiting parents into the building for the safety of our staff and studio families. We have been very fortunate to have been able to run in studio classes this season as many others have had to hold zoom classes. I do want to safely offer parents the opportunity to come in and view their child during their class time. We had hoped we could have done this sooner but are happy to see that cases are decreasing, and the vaccine has become available to many. Please read carefully the guidelines we are implementing to offer this to our families.

Projected Summer and 2019/20 Extended Season/Recital

Extended 2019/20 class season and Dance Team review

July 6 we will begin in studio recital review classes and competition rehearsals. We will plan for a late July or Aug recital. (Location and dates cannot be determined at this time as venues are not able to set bookings until guidelines open up for them to do so. We are in hopes by July 6 we will be able to have a recital date set) In the past we have held the recital on a Saturday or Sunday. We will be taking into consideration of possibly performing during the week, if necessary.

As we return back for the 2019/20 recital review classes and team rehearsals, we will be taking many precautions in modifying the classroom structure and enforcing health guidelines. Classes will be shortened to allow for students to exit the building and staff to clean as well as adjusting times to be working on recital routines. A modified schedule will be sent and posted by May 18th. There will be a google doc link created and attached to the adjusted schedule to use for class attendance. We ask for you to please add your child’s name to the class on the Doc so that the instructors will know who is planning on returning and attending the 2019/20 recital review classes and performing in the recital. (if you are unable to get into the google doc…. No worries… this is just a guide for instructors to have an idea of who will be attending.)

As Friday and Saturdays are often spent with vacationing, lake trips and many family activities over the summer months we thought it might be best to move these classes during the week. Please look for some adjustments to the schedule for the Friday and Saturday classes.

For those who have paid in full for their 2019/20 tuition and dance team fees, you will also receive the 25% discount given by the studio, due to this uncertain time. We will be contacting you within the next two weeks as to how this will be applied or reimbursed. Anyone who has not received their recital costume will receive it when we return or can pick it up at the studio on Mon/Wed between 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM.

Myself and staff want to thank you for your patients and continued support. Through your kind support…. we have been able to offer continuous employment for instructors and staff to be able to provide students the best education we can during this uncertain time.

We are challenging the students to take videos of themselves taking these on-line classes. If they post to their Instagram page and tag the studio account @angies.studiostl they will be featured on our instastory! 🙂🙂🙂

Recital/Competition & Summer/Fall Class Registration.

Dear Studio Families,

We hope each and every one of you are doing well. We wanted to give you an update as to what our thoughts are for the remainder of the season, recital and class registrations for summer and fall. Our hopes are, once we are cleared to return back to the studio, we will continue to work hard on routines, flexibility and conditioning. We have reached out to several venues for multiple options to perform the recital but cannot be certain at this time exactly where and when it WILL be. The recital picture date alternatives have also been discussed with the photographer and have been postponed until further notice.

All our students have worked so hard for this day and we are doing everything to make certain this day WILL come for them.

We will be posting the 2020/21 schedule soon for you to begin registering for classes. You will be receiving your class placement information for registering for the 2020/21 season by email.

Thank you so much for all your support you have given. Hang in there…. We are all in this together!

The show must go on!

Ms.  Angie and Staff

Dear Starz Dance Team Family,

We wanted to take a moment to address the status of this competition season. There are still so many uncertainties, making it impossible to give any definitive answers at this time. We are keeping track of and following the on-going Covid-19 developments and mandates. We are also keeping close tabs on our competitions and options they are offering. All of which are best laid plans. Until the quarantine officially ends and we are given the all clear, we can only make guesses as to which options will work for our studio. We will continue to monitor all options afforded us, with the full focus and intent on participating in all three competitions in some capacity this season. Please review below the most updated information we have for each competition.

•At this time we are optimistic we will be able to attend the Platinum Nationals event at the scheduled time. They have not announced plans to re-schedule their regional event but continue to add virtual competitions on-line, which could be a possibility down the road. We will not be able to participate in a virtual experience until we are allowed back in the studio to dance together but will keep looking for possible later added dates. If it doesn’t pan out, as mentioned previously, we will apply the regional fees to your Nationals invoice.

Fly Dance Competition has rescheduled the St. Louis regional event for the weekend of May 29th-31st. However, this is also the weekend of the Wentzville School District’s 3 high school graduations, which affects a few of our dancers and several dance families. There is a chance graduation may be postponed or handled differently, so we’ll have to wait and see. They are also offering a virtual competition, which we’d have to submit our videos by May 1st with virtual awards on May 15th. Again, this will depend on when the shelter in place is lifted.

According to the website, Mark of Excellence has re-scheduled the St. Louis event for June 5-7th. However, we have not received any direct updated correspondence from their office.

We are truly hoping to finish this season strong. We genuinely miss each and every one of you. Our dance family is never far from our mind. We will continue exploring options to ensure we get the most of this season and all their hard work.

We appreciate your patience and support during this incredibly difficult and uncertain times. You are all in our continued thoughts and prayers.

Thank you,
Dance Team Faculty 🙂
