2019/20 Recital Information!!!!

Dear Studio Families,

We hope you have been enjoying your summer!

Exciting news!!!! The 2019/20 recital will be Saturday, August 15 at the Saint Dominic Performing Arts Theater. We will plan to have 3 shows that day as we have in the past. We will be using proper health guidelines to ensure the safety and health of our students, families and staff.

The silks performance will need to be held at the studio due to theater liability and heath guidelines. Their performances will be divided and spread out during their last two classes of the extended season. This will allow each performance to have a minimal amount of students using a silk and sanitizing between performances. The Monday classes will either perform on Mon Aug 3rdor 10th and the Wed classes will perform on Wed Aug 5th or 12th.  Please fill out the survey permission link below letting us know if or who you consent to your child sharing a silk with.

The in studio recital review classes begin next week on July 6th and will run through Aug 13. The schedule is posted on the studio notes tab on the web site and also attached to this email.

We sent out a recital information and a survey on or around May 28 asking for a response of whether or not you will be participating in the recital and attending the extended 2019/20 season classes. We were very excited of all the “Yes” responses and of those contacting us stating they would love to but need to know the date of the recital before responding to the survey. If you have not filled the survey out, we please ask that you do so at this time. Teachers would love to know before coming to class next week how many students they can expect so they are able to prepare and make adjustments to the formations and the routine. Also thank you to those who have been in contact letting us know if you will be absent during any of the recital review classes.

Below is the recital participation and silks performance survey link.

Health Guidelines we will be following at this time.

  • Parents are asked to drop students off at the door. No-one else other than the instructor/Staff and students will be allowed in the building. If a young student needs for a parent to walk them into class, we will allow one parent to do so. The parent then must return outside after the child is comfortable in the classroom
  • The instructors must wear a mask while in the building. Students are not required to wear a mask but encouraged to do so
  • Students & Staff must wash their hands or use hand sanitizer before and after each class
  • The instructor must take their own temperature and the student’s temperature before class. The temperature must not be over 101.4 in order to teach or take the class. (Parents must remain outside and available the first 5 min of class in case the student is not approved to take class. After waiting the 5 min, parents are welcome to leave and come back by the end of class if comfortable doing so)
  • There are social distancing marks on the floors  and chairs in the lobby. Please talk with your child and enforce the distancing rules required in the lobby area.  We ask that students be dropped of no earlier than 10 min before their class time and that parents be there to pick your child up outside the building on time
  • Instructors/Office assistant will disinfect highly touched areas such as door knobs, counters, Barres, thermometers, bathroom faucets & flush knobs, mats and silks between each class. The studio will be thoroughly wiped and disinfected each morning by 9:00 am

Students are to bring their dance bags, water bottles, etc. into the classroom to limit lobby traffic.

• Please be sure students use the restroom before class, have clean hands, and come with a water bottle if needed. The drinking fountain will not be available for use. •Please instruct your child not to share water bottles, food, or other personal items.

•Students will remain in the classroom for their entire class, with the exception of an individual emergency bathroom break. (In the case of a young student needing to use the restroom, please let us know if you are uncomfortable with a studio staff member escorting them to the restroom and we will come find you in the parking lot.)

Thank you for your cooperation! We look forward to seeing everyone in class beginning the week of July 6.

Extended 2019/20 class season and Dance Team review and rehearsals:

July 6 we will begin in studio recital review classes and competition rehearsals. We will plan for a late July or Aug recital. (Location and dates cannot be determined at this time as venues are not able to set bookings until guidelines open up for them to do so. We are in hopes by July 6 we will be able to have a recital date set) In the past we have held the recital on a Saturday or Sunday. We will be taking into consideration of possibly performing during the week, if necessary.

As we return back for the 2019/20 recital review classes and team rehearsals, we will be taking many precautions in modifying the classroom structure and enforcing health guidelines. Classes will be shortened to allow for students to exit the building and staff to clean as well as adjusting times to be working on recital routines. The modified schedule is attached to this e-mail. As Friday and Saturdays are often spent with vacationing, lake trips and many family activities over the summer months we thought it might be best to move these classes during the week. Friday classes moved to Mon or Tues and Sat classes moved to Thur.

THE ADJUSTED JULY/AUGUST SCHEDULE IS ATTACHED TO THIS E-MAIL

In addition, you will receive a separate google survey via e-mail by the end of the day, regarding your plans to participate in the extended 2019/20 July 6 – Aug classes and recital. You will be asked to add your child’s name and select Yes or No – then hit submit.

Miss Abby is now available for in studio tumbling private lessons. If you are interested in scheduling a lesson, please contact her at 636-357-3236 (All below guidelines will be followed to ensure the safety and health for our students and staff.) 1/2 hr Private lesson fees per class  – 1 student/$32  2 students/$16  3 students/$12  4-5 students/$10  1 hour private lesson – 1 student/$42  2 students/$22  3 students/$18  4-5 students/$14

Projected Summer and 2019/20 Extended Season/Recital

Dear Studio Families, we hope all of you are doing well and miss each of you. Our staff has been working hard with the LIVE ZOOM and video classes to continue to educate, motivate and keeping the mind and body active. Each instructor has been enjoying being able to see the students working hard in class. GREAT JOB STUDENTS!!!!

I would also like to add I am very proud and impressed with our staff for adjusting to this new way of teaching. They have been more than willing to do what they can to help out during this time. Ms. Andrea has been a tremendous help with the Zoom on line classes in coordinating with the instructors, planning the schedules and posting the on-line video links. In addition Ms. Hannah is doing a super job with engaging students in activities and posts through social media. Each and every one of my staff has been as helpful as possible and I appreciate and thank all of them for this.

With much thought and careful consideration for the staff and studio family members, we are excited to announce we have a projected plan in play in moving forward with summer classes and the 2019/20 extended season and recital.

We will be continuing the Zoom classes and recital review/choreography until May 22. Please be sure students are taking class to ensure they are learning the added choreography as most instructors will be finishing the dances within the next two weeks of Zoom classes.

We will then begin a 5 week summer Zoom session, June 1 – July 3. This will allow students to continue their class education and keep the mind and body working and conditioned. We are very sad to inform our silks students we will no longer be able to provide silks classes. In addition, many venues will no longer allow silks to be performed at their location. Myself and Ms. Colleen are looking at other options for those who would like to continue silks classes. Pre-Recorded On-Line Classes

Dear studio families,
The studio staff misses each and every one of you! We are sorry we aren’t able to meet with you in person, but we’re incredibly excited to offer a series of on-line classes!!
Below you will find the list of on-line classes. Please select the videos that accommodate your level and class title or feel free to take any class you like. (Reminder, some class levels have been combined and may not be the length of a normal class, taking into account students not taking turns across the floor.)

You have the availability to take class at anytime of the day, as many times as you choose and choose any class you would like.
Our teachers have worked hard and spent many hours creating and adjusting a class curriculum that can be executed in a smaller dance space for individual at home continued learning.

  • We recommend students using a chair back, counter top or something comparable for any barre work.
  • Always wear sensible shoes to account for flooring.
  • We recommend tennis shoes for the Tap portion as to not scuff up your floors.
  • If wearing Pointe shoes, please keep two hands on your counter/chair back for support and do not attempt Pointe work on a carpeted surface.

Recital/Competition & Summer/Fall Class Registration.

Dear Studio Families,

We hope each and every one of you are doing well. We wanted to give you an update as to what our thoughts are for the remainder of the season, recital and class registrations for summer and fall. Our hopes are, once we are cleared to return back to the studio, we will continue to work hard on routines, flexibility and conditioning. We have reached out to several venues for multiple options to perform the recital but cannot be certain at this time exactly where and when it WILL be. The recital picture date alternatives have also been discussed with the photographer and have been postponed until further notice.

All our students have worked so hard for this day and we are doing everything to make certain this day WILL come for them.

We will be posting the 2020/21 schedule soon for you to begin registering for classes. You will be receiving your class placement information for registering for the 2020/21 season by email.

Thank you so much for all your support you have given. Hang in there…. We are all in this together!

The show must go on!

Ms.  Angie and Staff

_________________________________________________________________________________________

Dear Starz Dance Team Family,

We wanted to take a moment to address the status of this competition season. There are still so many uncertainties, making it impossible to give any definitive answers at this time. We are keeping track of and following the on-going Covid-19 developments and mandates. We are also keeping close tabs on our competitions and options they are offering. All of which are best laid plans. Until the quarantine officially ends and we are given the all clear, we can only make guesses as to which options will work for our studio. We will continue to monitor all options afforded us, with the full focus and intent on participating in all three competitions in some capacity this season. Please review below the most updated information we have for each competition.

•At this time we are optimistic we will be able to attend the Platinum Nationals event at the scheduled time. They have not announced plans to re-schedule their regional event but continue to add virtual competitions on-line, which could be a possibility down the road. We will not be able to participate in a virtual experience until we are allowed back in the studio to dance together but will keep looking for possible later added dates. If it doesn’t pan out, as mentioned previously, we will apply the regional fees to your Nationals invoice.

Fly Dance Competition has rescheduled the St. Louis regional event for the weekend of May 29th-31st. However, this is also the weekend of the Wentzville School District’s 3 high school graduations, which affects a few of our dancers and several dance families. There is a chance graduation may be postponed or handled differently, so we’ll have to wait and see. They are also offering a virtual competition, which we’d have to submit our videos by May 1st with virtual awards on May 15th. Again, this will depend on when the shelter in place is lifted.

According to the website, Mark of Excellence has re-scheduled the St. Louis event for June 5-7th. However, we have not received any direct updated correspondence from their office.

We are truly hoping to finish this season strong. We genuinely miss each and every one of you. Our dance family is never far from our mind. We will continue exploring options to ensure we get the most of this season and all their hard work.

We appreciate your patience and support during this incredibly difficult and uncertain times. You are all in our continued thoughts and prayers.

Thank you,
Dance Team Faculty 🙂

Studio Family Update!

Dear Studio Families,

We are terribly disappointed to announce we will not be able to resume back to classes on April 6th as hoped, and need to keep studio doors closed until further notice.

We are all saddened by this unfortunate turn of events, and trust that our patrons will understand that the health and welfare of our community is paramount.

The student’s performances are what they have worked so hard for all year. We are planning, as much as we can, to make this happen for them. If our currently booked venue will not be available, we have contacted and reserved several other venues for us to use. Once we are allowed, and all is safe, we will set the date for the show to go on!!!

In the meantime, please keep working hard with the on-line classes, practicing your dances, staying conditioned and eating healthy. For the next week we will be adding on-line class videos for you to continue your education along with videos of teaching choreography to those classes who have not finished their dances.

If we are not back at the studio within a week, we will begin LIVE on-line classes through zoom. This will allow the instructors to see and interact with their students. Instructions on how to do this and the class schedules will go out and be posted on the website later next week.

The studio administrators and instructors are working very hard and doing our best to continue to offer students education, conditioning and practices. Much time has been spent with reworking the original planned events, class curriculum and recording class videos. We want to thank those for understanding with continuing to financially support and sending out kind words and love our way. It truly means so much to myself and the studio staff family.

We will continue to communicate, as information becomes available, as to what the plans will be moving forward. PlE

Wishing you all Health, Happiness and Smiles as we navigate this uncertain time!

Sincerely,

Ms. Angie and Studio Staff

Please enjoy the attached slide show messages from all of us at Angie’s Studio!!!

Updates on COVID-19

Dear Studio Parents,

We are certainly in unprecedented times due to the unfortunate circumstances surrounding the COVID-19 virus. We care deeply for our students and their families. We would like to offer some comfort and help during this time of uncertainty. At this time, we will be discounting May tuition by 25%. For those of you who have paid in full, we will reevaluate the situation in the weeks to come and contact you as to how this will be reimbursed or discounted.

In addition we are excited to offer a bit of normalcy to your child’s routine. Instructors will continue to prepare curriculum with on-line classes to further educate and keep the students active and engaged. The teachers have been hard at work preparing and pre-recording lessons for classes. An e-mail will be sent as to how to access the on-line classes. Please note, some levels will be combined and the length of certain classes will be shorter since we will not need to account for students taking turns across the floor. These lessons will account for the limitation of space since kids will likely be taking class from home.

We are looking forward to presenting these on-line classes in our efforts to continue your child’s dance, tumble and silks education.

We are also working to have recital music available for practicing at home. If space is limited, taking the time to go through the dance in your head and or marking it with your feet and arms is very helpful.

A special thank you to Ms. Andrea, Miss Brady, Ms. Colleen, Ms. Julie, Ms. Kathryn, Ms. Michelle, Miss Hannah, Faith and Rylea! Ms. Andrea has taken much time and effort coordinating the on-line videos, and Miss Hannah has been our social media specialist. All have been hard at work reworking lesson plans to accommodate and bring classes into your home. We hope that you all take advantage of the on-line classes we are offering and any social media posts with fun activities and challenges.

Thank you for your support, patience and understanding as we navigate these new waters. We have received several supportive and positive feedback from our studio families and are feeling very grateful for this.

Wishing health and happiness to you and your families.

Thank you,
Ms. Angie Kortkamp & Staff
